Meet Richard!
How long have you been working at Comsearch?
6 years
What inspires or excites you the most about working in this industry?
It’s challenging. Sometimes too a claim may look right but you can tell something is off, and you have to dig deeper to figure out what.
What skills have you developed since joining the company?
Working with claims has helped me develop my analytical skills and attention to detail.
What is the best compliment or positive feedback have you received from a client/coworker/manager?
When my manager told me “Everyone here speaks very highly of you.”
How do you balance your work and personal life?
I’ve learned to prioritize the important things and not get freaked out over the small stuff.
When you’re not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Well, I was a journalism major in school and worked as a freelance reporter in the 1990s and early 2000s, so I still like to write. Also, I read a lot, especially history and current events. I watch a lot of things on YouTube, from both the past and present, and I love to listen to music.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in your role?
I try to do a good job so I can take pride in my work. On a more personal note, Laura and Heather have been an invaluable help to me.
What’s your favorite way to spend the day off?
Reading, writing, and listening to music.
If you could have any fictional character as a colleague, who would it be and why?
There was a popular sitcom that was on the air in the 1970s and early 80s called “Barney Miller”. He was a police precinct captain played by Hal Linden. Barney was the ideal boss: Wise, fair, compassionate, funny, but tough when he had to be. He held things together at the often-chaotic 12th precinct.
What was your very first job, and what did it teach you?
When I was 16 I had to pound a foot press about 2000 times a day in a jewelry box shop in Providence. It was a hot summer and the shop had no AC. It taught me a lot about patience and endurance. And I did a lot of daydreaming to pass the time.
