Employee Spotlight: Yulanda Tierney

Meet Yulanda!

How long have you been working at Comsearch?
16 years

What inspires or excites you the most about working in this industry?
I enjoy working in an industry that allows me to constantly learn new things and challenge myself.

What skills have you developed since joining the company?
I’ve learned many skills along the way at Comsearch such as negotiating skills, customer service and how to properly write and review estimates.

What is the best compliment or positive feedback have you received from a client/coworker/manager?
My best compliment would be from a customer. He said, “Yulanda, no matter what I ask of you, you always are available and help me any way that you can, even if it’s a question about a file that isn’t yours. You are a real asset to Comsearch.”

How do you balance your work and personal life?
A healthy work-life balance is crucial for avoiding burnout and maintaining productivity. I have a digital shutdown ritual that I follow each day.

When you’re not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
When I am not working I enjoy thrifting and going to yard sales. I’m always on the hunt to find interesting items people no longer want.

How do you stay motivated and inspired in your role?
I’m motivated in my role due to the fact that I’m always challenged. Whether it’s a difficult claim or studying for a license to achieve, or staying on top of my continuing education to maintain my licenses.

What’s your favorite way to spend the day off?
An ideal day off would be listing and selling items on eBay. I’ve been an eBay seller since 1999 and have received the title from eBay as a “power seller.”

If you could have any fictional character as a colleague, who would it be and why?
My favorite fictional character would be Johnny Lawrence because he is misunderstood often but always wins in the end. I’m assuming you all know who Johnny is, and if you don’t, I’m sorry about that. lol

What was your very first job, and what did it teach you?
My first job was when I was 14 and I worked in the probation department in the Fall River courts as a clerk. I would check everyone in that needed to see their probation officer and bring files back and forth to the courtrooms. I learned that I never wanted to get in trouble.
